I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,

I have kept the Faith. 

Emma Grey Woods, was born July 4, 1942, to the late Alonza J and Mary J Woods. of Burgaw, NC.   Emma departed this life on October 15, 2013,.  Her brother James Allen and  sister Louise preceded her in death.

Emma surrendered her life to the Lord at an early age.  She accepted Christ as her personal Savior and lived in the Grace of God.  She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church for over 58 years.

During her 58 years of service, Emma served as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Willing Workers, Usher Board, as a Sunday School Teacher, as a President, of  the Pastor’s Aide, and as a Custodian of  the Church. She served under the following pastors:  W. E. Bemon, H L Moore, Aaron McCrae,  Leo Stevenson, Jeffery Carr, and  James Eason.   Emma loved the Lord  and  embraced the Word of God with her whole heart.

If God said it Emma believed it.

Emma was a 1962 graduate of C F Pope High School.  She enjoyed reading her bible, cooking, talking , sports (especially wrestling) , playing games (especially Bingo) and bringing joy to others.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory, one God Child, Tamika McCall(Corey), Raleigh, NC,  eight sisters,  and  four brother-in-laws:

Peggy Woods, Mary Lou Woods, Elma Woods,  and Cynthia Woods all of Burgaw, NC, Maxine Owens(Tommy), West Babylon, NY, Pearlene Marshall, (Leroy) Philadelphia, PA, Thelma McCall(Anthony),Rocky Point, NC,  Beulah Cox(Ed) , Wilmington, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
